
Project goal
This battery system is intended to be paired with this surgical helmet concept which is the main part of this project designed by Argenta Park. Things we wanted to focus on for this system are:
How do we communicate battery states and who needs to know this information.
Where do we place the battery so it is not adding weight to the helmet.
How can we make the battery easily accessible during surgery as the surgeon will be wearing a toga.



Personal protection system
This battery system is intended to power a surgical helmet that goes underneath a protective toga. The battery needs to accessible for surgical techs to replace during surgery as it will be outside of the sterile zone. Modeled and designed by Argenta Park, rendered by Devin Tran.


Lighting Paradigm
Inside the battery pack is a set of LEDs that are used to communicate various battery states to the surgical tech who is usually outside of the sterile zone. These LEDs need to be able to communicate clearly what state it is in so that the surgeon can confidently know how much time they have left so that they may continue their operation without any interruption. We developed a series of lighting paradigms in figma that were used in labs with actual stakeholders to test which ones were able to communicate the intended message clearly or not.
